"Keep Calm And Let Them Be Little."
Think pieces
Urgent vs. Important
I totally agree on the ideas mentioned before that most of the time the curriculum and the time forces us to 'stress' and rush through the tasks only looking for the 'hopeful' great results they might bring in the end...
but how can we assure that the students get the time they need for their emotional and social skills besides all the academics that is asked from them?
I am teaching 3 to 6 years old kids... who need time to eat, one often more then another.. time to dress themselves... time to unbutton their shirts or brush their teeth... if we don't give them the time now to explore these important 'even small' skills, when is the next time they gonna learn it???.... not any time soon!
Already in Pre-school there is so much asked from them to do, to answer, to complete or to achieve... but we shall not forget that the Pre-school time is the most important time where the children learn the most fundamental things and behavior they need to cope with problems in life and the more difficult and challenging tasks that will come later.
I like a quote that refers to the time the kids need in their early years and hope that a lot teachers have the same opinion on this and give them the time, the patience and the love they need.
'Keep calm and let them be little.'
For me the importance for child development goes over the urgent of theoretical curriculum and should be combined in a harmonic way.

Video 3 Reflection
After watching the video lectures ...
I am wondering about the critical step that follows teaching knowledge and skills ... how can we as teachers and educators provide the possibility for our students to (inter) connect these given information with other information from different fields so that our students can learn to cope with real world problems and to solve them instead of learning only for exams or in-depth data that is 90% irrelevant for their further learning and living ???
How can we assure that our students start to 'understand the wider scope' (David Perkins) of taught knowledge and skills ?
How can we approach the ' Education for the unknown' ( Perkins) ?
How can we engage our students and enhance their desire for learning and new information?
How can we as educators teach the right information that works as a gear-wheel where all knowledge is useful and connects with each other?
