Think pieces
Thoughts about REFERENCES in assignments
Firstly I will agree with Martin,
the course is created to get a better knowledge about techniques, structures, strategies and methods and to show how you work with them.
But it is also an opportunity to learn how to work and research in a professional way and to know how to use references correctly, as they are thoughts, ideas and knowledge of others. To gain knowledge it is important to read, understand, observe, share and compare different resources and references to get a bigger picture and a real insight into a new topic or field.
Creativity is as Martin nicely said... personal and not a real point to mark and evaluate as we are all different and we all have a different perspective about creativity and interests. Furthermore teachers have to adapt to their classroom and students and creatively is not the same in one room as it is in an other. I also agree that creativity can be used fantastic of every one of us individually after completing this course at our own practical work space.
References to the other hand is a fact and can be evaluated quiet easily. It is also a nice tool for others to find more information about a certain topic that they haven't seen before. So in fact they have to be handled carefully.
Working and understanding new knowledge requires that we read and research about it and that we put them into the right chapter in our mind as well as in our 'folders'. Therefore references play an vital role to show our sources of information and data to others.
Secondly I will also agree to Yuliya,
as a teacher it is crucial to adapt certain methods and techniques into the own classroom and therefore creativity and flexibility are enormous important characteristics to work in a profession as a teacher. For me creativity comes immediately after the professional way of working with other materials and references.
